1. Product Principle

Plastic spraying: It is a more complex surface treatment process. It is a process in which paint powder is directly sprayed on the product through equipment to play a protective and decorative role. It is also usually called electrostatic powder spraying.


Spray painting: It is a relatively simple surface treatment process. It puts paint into a container, pressurizes it with machinery and sprays the paint onto the product in the form of mist, so that a layer of paint film is formed on the surface of the product. Paint can be used or other coatings.

3. Process flow

Plastic spraying:

(1) The product needs to be pre-treated before spraying (rust removal, oil removal, etc. to remove surface impurities on the product);


(2) Because this process sprays the coating powder directly on the product, the adsorption force is not very strong at this time, and a high-temperature curing step is required;


(3) Put the sprayed product into an oven at a certain temperature. Under the action of high temperature, the coating powder will melt and level itself, and finally solidify to form a dense and strong spray layer.


Spray painting:

(1) The product also needs to be processed before painting (rust removal, oil removal, etc.);


(2) The surface of the processed product must be cleaned and dried naturally before painting can be applied to the product;


(3) The manufacturer can choose to spray paint several times according to the process requirements of each product. If you want to obtain a dense and strong paint layer, you can spray paint 2-3 times repeatedly. In this way, the first spray paint is called primer.

4. Process characteristics

Plastic spraying:

(1) Coating powder can be used directly without diluting the liquid;


(2) Less harm to the environment and human body;


(3) After using electrostatic spraying, the coating quality is better and the adhesion is stronger;


(4) Lower technical requirements for workers;


(5) Short curing time, no liquid sagging and many other advantages;


(6) Plastic spraying also has disadvantages such as the surface being difficult to repair and the cost being higher.


Spray painting:

1. Manual spray painting (hand-held spray gun, spray the product according to the shape of the workpiece)

(1) Flexible and convenient operation;


(2) Applicable to products of different environments, shapes, and sizes;


(3) Simple equipment and low energy consumption;


(4) The disadvantages are low production efficiency and unstable spray quality;


(5) Workers have high labor intensity, are easily contaminated by paint mist, and have poor working conditions.


2. Air spray painting (using a spray gun as a tool, the paint is blown away by the air flow of compressed air, atomized, and sprayed onto the surface of the product to form a paint film)

(1) High productivity and stable spray quality;


(2) A large amount of paint mist is generated during the painting process, polluting the air;


(3) Large paint loss;


(4) Moisture and other impurities in the compressed air are easily mixed into the paint flow, and improper treatment will affect the quality of the coating.


3. High-pressure airless spray painting (use a high-pressure pump in a closed container to pressurize the paint and spray it out from the spray gun. Due to the sudden drop in pressure, it immediately expands and atomizes violently, and sprays onto the surface of the workpiece to form a paint film)

(1) High productivity and strong paint film adhesion;


(2) Less paint mist and lower air pollution;


(3) The working conditions are better;


(4) Since there is no impurities such as moisture and oil mixed into the paint flow, the protective performance of the coating is also good;


(5) The disadvantages are that the equipment structure is more complex, the coating is not as uniform as air spray painting, and the decorative properties are poor.

5. Other differences

(1) The leveling of spray paint is better than that of spray paint, because the molecular structure of the solvent used in spray paint will help leveling, but there are no such ingredients in spray paint.


(2) Spray painting can repair small areas, but plastic spraying cannot;


(3)Spray paint has rich decorative properties, fast delivery time, and can be customized or produced in small batches;


(4)Plastic spraying needs to be baked at high temperature so the adhesion is better, but there are requirements for product size, while spray paint can be sprayed on a large area.
